Our Mission
The MNR Foundation is dedicated to taking action for climate justice, gender equality and inclusivity through storytelling, advocacy and development initiatives. Today, we live in an increasingly interconnected world, and each one of our actions can have a profound impact on those around us in our local, and global community. It is with this recognition in mind, that we design each of our projects at MNR Foundation. While most of our projects are run locally in either the Toronto region or in Maryam and Nivaal's village in Pakistan, we understand that they can and will have an impact on other parts of the world as well. We also understand how important it is for members of our local community in Toronto to be educated about what is happening in other parts of the world as well. This is why many of our projects have both a local and global focus, particularly when tackling transnational issues like climate change, gender equality and inclusivity. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and many initiatives being run online, we have also been able to open up spaces for people from other parts of the world to join and access our initiatives which were previously only open to people in Toronto as well.

Led by twin activists Maryam and Nivaal Rehman, our team is powered by incredible change makers from around the world. Two of our board members, Samina Umar and Habib Rehman, have extensive years of experience working in the social work sector in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, while our directors of Climate Justice, Inclusivity, Gender Equality and Communications are all amazing young activists who are passionate about their respective fields.
